By facilitating narrative sampling, it captures essential skills necessary for transitioning to a literate mode of expression, which is critical for educational success. Furthermore, the assessment extends its reach beyond sentence-level language to assess broader communicative abilities.

'Peter and the Cat' is widely utilized by therapists, educators, and researchers globally. It is also endorsed in the notable publication 'Developing Language and Literacy: Effective Intervention in the Early Years' by Julia M. Carroll et al. (2011). This assessment plays a pivotal role in establishing therapeutic objectives, guiding curriculum planning, and providing pre- and post-intervention data.

The iPad version of 'Peter and the Cat' retains all narrative profiling features while enhancing usability with interactive components such as an illustrated eBook, voice-overs, audio recording capabilities, and on-screen profiling. It offers convenient options for dictation (available on new iPads), automatic report generation, and seamless integration with Dropbox and email for efficient assessments that require minimal preparation time. The final report, alongside the child's audio retelling, can be conveniently transferred to a desktop via email or Dropbox. The report's plain text format facilitates easy incorporation into other documentation or case files.

Additionally, users can select voice-overs from speakers across UK, US, Australian, and South African dialects. To maintain confidentiality standards, data protection measures such as password protection have been implemented.
